Accommodation & Food

We want to ensure your stay is as comfortable as possible and we can provide two accommodation options for maximum flexibility.

Our most popular option is to stay at Rosa's Guest House with Gary & Bev.  Here you'll stay in modern shared rooms (max. occ. 2pers).  Each room has private bathroom facilities, a balcony, and a small kitchen.  Air conditioning and laundry are available at additional cost, as is single occupancy (subject to availability).  At Rosa's you'll have free high speed WiFi, 24 hour on-site support, and slobbery hugs from Cocoa too.  Gary & Bev will provide you also with a hearty breakfast and evening meal each day too.

We also have a selection of self catering options, if you would prefer your own space and to prepare your own meals. Self catering does offer a significant discount on our course fees, so let us know if you would prefer this option and we can adjust accordingly.

Getting Here

There are a few options for getting into Carriacou, but first you'll need to travel to the main island of Grenada.  The airport there is called the Maurice Bishop International Airport, and is referred to as the airport code GND.

Flights are available from Grenada to Carriacou through SVG Air.  This is a short 20 minute flight, currently available twice a day Thursday to Monday.  Baggage limit is only 20kg total though.

We have daily ferry crossings (Mon-Sat) on the Osprey Lines fast ferry service.  This leaves from the center of St George's each day and typically takes 90 minutes to cross to Carriacou.  Check with us or Osprey Lines for latest ferry schedule.

Additionally there is a ferry service through the Dolly C/Tyrell Bay Express too.  These leave a 4pm each day (Mon - Sat) from the main port in St George's.  They're cheaper, but typically take 3 hours to make the crossing.

Advise us of your flight plans and we'll be able to advise and assist with getting here.  Once you are on Carriacou, we will arrange to meet you and have you brought to our facility in Hillsborough.

Social activities

Carriacou unfolds its beauty, encircled by stretches of pristine sandy beaches and tranquil turquoise waters—an idyllic haven for sunseekers and those eager to soak in the sun's warmth. The name "Carriacou" stems from the Carib-Indian term meaning the "Isle of Reefs," painting a picture of the island's stunning underwater realm.

For those yearning to delve into the island's wonders, a plethora of possibilities awaits (additional costs may apply):
+ Embark on guided island tours, immersing yourself in Carriacou's essence.
+ Discover beaches like Anse La Roche, Paradise Beach, and Petite Carenage.
+ Set sail on island excursions, punctuated by beach bars and BBQs.
+ Harness the winds with invigorating kite surfing adventures.
+ Unveil the allure of the legendary bar on Happy Island!
+ Traverse the mangroves and embark on a nature walk through the High North nature park.

Carriacou invites you to explore, rejuvenate, and create lasting memories amidst its enchanting offerings.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

We often get asked questions about our projects, here are some of the most commonly asked ones.

We're typically very quick to get through the application process and approve your placement on the program.  We aim to respond to your email or WhatsApp application within 24 hours.  If you have not heard from us within 48 hours, please check your spam folder or reach out to us a let us know you've not heard back.

Once we've liaised with you and ensured you have the program which best suits your needs we will send you an invoice through PayPal.  Once you have your invoice you'll have the option to make a 10% deposit, or pay in full.  A 10% deposit will be required to hold your space.

If, for whatever reason you've changed your mind before the payment of the deposit, please just let us know so we can cancel the invoice.  Once the deposit is received, we shall issue you with any training materials you require.  Unfortunately deposits are non-refundable.

Balance payments will be required 1 month before your planned arrival dates.

Subject to availability, yes.  You'll be able to stay for a few days or a few weeks.  We can work out the costs for accommodation, food and any activities you might want to do.

Power/electricity here is available at 220v AC from the power supplies with plug sockets being the UK style 3 pin socket.  Most electricals from Europe will be able to be plugged in with an adaptor.  Devices from the US/Canada may need to be plugged into a transformer to 'step down' the voltage to 110v.  Check your items, or have one of our team check them.

Please let us know in advance of any of your dietary requirements. Vegetarian/Pescatarian diets are fairly easily accommodated within the food options at the Guest House.  Vegan/Gluten Free diets are a little more challenging to support due to the availability of raw ingredients, and we may need you to bring or provide things specifically to support you.

Carriacou is located only 12 degrees north of the equator.  Its in a tropical environment with hot sun during the day.  We recommend you bring at least SPF50 suntan lotion (reef safe is even better), a big hat, reusable water bottle, a beach/bath towel, mosquito repellant, and of course your swimmies.

If you have any of your own scuba equipment, we'd suggest bringing it if you find its comfortable.  We'd also recommend bringing your own full length wetsuit if you are prone to feeling the cold.  We provide 3mm short wetsuits to all participants, but working in the water for several hours a day you WILL start to feel the cold.
